ADs

Find 5 different commercials on any online source (YouTube, Veoh, anything that can be linked). Link them on the blog and write a paragraph for each, analyzing them.

Orbit Gum Commercial

- This commercial applies to anyone really, mainly older. They put a spin on things by using funny “dirty” language to give the illusion that eating a piece of their gum will solve all their habits of poor language. This commercial is definitely made to make you laugh, and I believe it serves its purpose. They do a really good job at making their product attractive to the public.

- This commercial appeals to men. I like how the commercial uses natural sounds so it doesn’t take away from the truck. I believe that way they decided to break down the insides of the truck to show the positive attributes that the truck can offer someone who buys it. Plus, the animations of taking it apart the way it does is really cool and eye catching which makes the audience want to keep watching.

- I love this commercial. It obviously applies to girls, but in a funny way. It makes a thing that isn’t funny or enjoyable, and turns it into something to laugh about. It also points out the flaws of the competitors, and the lies that they put in their ads to make their product appear more desirable. The tone is sarcastic, which I think is completely appropriate and makes the commercial memorable.

- This commercial appeals to both men and women, in a weird way. Although, the product is directed and designed for men, the commercial takes an interesting point of view on the product. They reach out to the women telling them that a “real man” should smell like, and in order to achieve what they want in a dream guy, they have to buy their product.

- This commercial, is also one for a male body scent product. However, this ad appeals more to males. The tone they give off is envy. That when or if these boys buy this product, then girls would be instantly attracted to them and all over them. It gives these guys a sense of confidence when they wear it knowing that the girls they are trying to attract are into it.

I chose these colors because I wanted to give a fun, funky, attractive vibe to the company that would draw in attention to the age group. The fonts are all easy to read, but stylized so they appear to be fun and cool, which was the look I was using for. The slogan "Speed in Style", represents the idea of "speed" but also I added the style so it seems like it is selective and fun.
